In the midst of a very productive and busy year, a Chicago Team outing was overdue. Michael Velasquez, CEO, wanted to take the Chicago Team to Lucky Strike to have some food, drinks and fun!
This year an Operations vs. Admin/Sales tournament took place. Considering that many of the team members are non-bowlers, many strike’s and spar’s were rolled down the lanes. Admin/Sales Team Won! (sorry Ops)

Next week Percipia will take on BITAC 2016 at the Breathless Riviera Cancun Resort in Cancún, QR, Mexico. BITAC brings together a collection of hospitality purchasing professionals from all over the world. BITAC attendees are from different departments within a hospitality property; they could be from Food & Beverage, IT or even General Managers.
The intimate setup of BITAC allows for prescheduled meetings that are timed with fifteen minute increments. Vendors will get a chance to meet with 20-25 professionals in two days. The cost savings of BITAC verse traveling to individual properties is a one of the main reason why the show gets huge publicity.

S.T.A.R. is Percipia’s new Service Tracking And Response software. We are thrilled to have visited The Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club this week!
Our CEO, Michael Velasquez had the pleasure of visiting this stunning property earlier this week. The Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club is one of the most prestigious hotels near Duke University and has an extensive history dating back to 1988.
While there, Michael stayed in one of the beautifully appointed 271 guest rooms located within the 300 acres of the Duke Forest. When asked about his stay Michael said, “The property was immaculate and the staff were incredibly hospitable. It was a brief business trip but I really enjoyed my time and I will definitely be back!”

It is always nerve-racking coming into a new company and trying to break the ice. Ensuring that new employees feel comfortable is crucial to building a positive transition within a company. We thought it would be fun to ask Jeremy a few questions to get to know him a little better.
Q: What is your official work title?
A: Systems Support Specialist
Q: Can you tell us more about your professional experience/history?
A: I studied engineering at the Illinois Institute of technology, decided to join the military, and then went on to co-found an open source hardware project which aims to make learning electronics easier and more approachable to people of all ages.
Q: What do you like to do outside of work?
A: I’m a member of the Air National Guard and I’m also involved in the Maker Movement. When I’m not doing that I enjoy taking pictures and playing ukulele.
Q: What are your greatest travel experience?
A: I’ve done a lot of traveling in my life. Even though I’ve been to Paris, seen the Great Pyramids with my own eyes, and happened to fly over Yellowstone right as Old Faithful was erupting, I’d have to say that my greatest travel experience was coming home for Christmas after being gone for nine months.

Q: What is something that inspires you?
A: What inspires me most is how beautiful the world is. Even in places you wouldn’t expect.
Q: What would you say your professional goal would be now that you are employed at Percipia?
A: As a person who’s stayed at fair number of hotels I know how important hospitality is and I definitely want to improve that experience as much as possible. However, I also seek to learn as much as I can about voice over ip and enterprise technologies so that I can help our customers focus on what they’re good at.

1. Dubai Parks and Resorts, United Arab Emirates
Opening in October, Dubai Parks and Resorts will feature several themed zones, from Legos to Bollywood flicks and Hollywood blockbusters. If you’re looking to escape the heat, the park will have a waterpark too. But don’t worry if you plan to stay dry. The film-themed attractions will be air conditioned.
2. Shanghai Disneyland, Shanghai, China
Disneyland is headed to China! The upcoming theme park is expected to open sometime this year. It will feature Enchanted Storybook Castle, the largest and tallest Disney castle, as well as an 11-acre collection of gardens called the Gardens of Imagination. Other attractions include Treasure Cove–a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed harbor town, Adventure Isle–the counter-part to Adventureland, and Tomorrowland–which will feature a futuristic Buzz Lightyear-themed adventure.
3. Louvre Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
This new Louvre location is set to open later this year. It’s been in development for almost ten years. The museum is said to feature a mix of Western and Eastern artwork. The building itself is quite a piece of art too.
4. Ark Encounter, Kentucky, USA
Experience a life-sized Noah’s Ark! Opening July 7, Ark Encounter features a number of Biblical events in 510-foot-long wooden arc! Learn more about the story of Noah, how he and his family built the arc and about all the animals brought to fit inside of it.

Our CEO, Michael Velasquez, and Global Director of Sales, Kevin Yarnell, just got back from visiting our Dubai office this past week. This marks the second trip for both this year – a trip well worth the long flight!
Michael and Kevin spent the bulk of their time overseas collaborating with one of our top partners, Cisco, within the UAE region, as well as with other great partners such as Interel. In addition, our team members visited multiple large hotel brands across the Middle East and Asia as part of our effort to capitalize on this growing region.
Just as Percipia has begun to expand within the UAE, so has the region itself. In effort to prepare for the 2020 World Expo, the number of hotels in the UAE is expected to double! Dubai will hold the 2020 World Expo and is slated to open more than 35,000 hotel guest rooms between 2015 and 2020, bringing the total number to more than 100,000 guest rooms within the city alone!
Michael and Kevin had an extremely productive trip and felt right at home while staying at the Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort and Towers. With business booming it’s only a matter of time before another visit is around the corner!
